WWW Wednesdays: Japanese-Inspired Adventure, Light Rom-Coms and Reading Slumps

www wednesday

If we’re being technical about it, I’m not really in reading slump. I just haven’t heard the time or energy to read lately. Ever since I started working full-time I haven’t been reading as much as I used to or blogging. I try to carve out some reading time on my journey to and from work but I’m so tired and mentally worn out that I just want to put my headphones on and look out the window.

WWW Wednesdays is a weekly blogging meme that’s hosted on Taking On A World of Words.

What Are You Currently Reading?

The Sword of Kaigen by M.L Wang

This is a Japanese-inspired fantasy that has been likened ti Avatar: The Last Airbender, I’m about a quarter into this and I’m really enjoying it so far. It’s the exact brand of epic fantasy that I love – halfway between too complicated an easy to understand.

Show Your Work by Austin Kleon

Since I’m techincally a Graphic Designer now (though I don’t feel like like it yet) I’ve been looking through some books about graphic design and creativity. There isn’t a lot of room for creativity in the space that I’m working in now so I’m just trying to keep the creativity spark alive.

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

The Good Luck GirlsThe Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis

Possibly one of my favourite fantasy books from this year! The Good Luck Girls is an adventure fantasy with a dash of dystopian elements and a girl gang secaing indentured servitude. The main character is a black girl who finds herself with a bunch of other girls on the run after her little sister kills a man. I talked about why i loved it at length just last week here

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

Tweet Cute by Emma Lord

I received this ARC as for a blog tour that I was invited to which is probably the highlight of my blogging career so far. This book was already on my most list so yay for me!

Call Me, Maybe by Stephie Chapman

I’m getting serious Public Relations vibes from this it’s my favourite NA book featuring a popstar/local romance. It’s practically self-insert Harry Styles fanfiction and I might be trash for loving it but it’s realllly good.

  1. Congratulations on the blog tour! This is a great list! When I’m in a slump, I usually read something in the vein of romantic comedy tropey nonsense.
