I came across the Music Habits tag when I was browsing the WordPress reader section and it seemed like a fun thing to write about. I love music and writing so I decided to give it a go. This is an original tag by Sumedha, check out their post at The Wordy Habitat.

Do you download songs or stream on apps like Spotify, Wink?
I do a bit of both but mostly I download songs. We didn’t get Spotify in South Africa until a few weeks ago.
What’s your current favourite song?
You Must Love Me by Lana Del Rey
Last Song You Listened To?
Zombie by The Cranberries. I’m listening to it right now.
What are your all time favourite artists?
- The Killers
- Lana Del Rey
- The National
Have you been to any concerts?
I went to the Rihanna Diamond World Tour in 2012. Most of my favourite artists don’t include the entire continent of Africa in their “world” tours.
Do you play any instruments?
No, but I’d love to learn the piano.
Do you play your songs on shuffle or choose a playlist?
Both. It depends on my mood and activity. I have playlists named Clean (for cleaning) and Crying In A Taxi in NY (for when I’m sad). Sometimes I shuffle all my songs if I don’t know what I feel like.
Name one song that you always skip when it comes up on shuffle.
Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato. I love Demi but this song…
Do you prefer playing songs on speaker or listening in ear/headphones?
Again it depends on my mood. For quiet, existential crisis like moods I usually listen in my earphones but if I want it really loud (there are certain songs that deserve loudspeakers) then I play on speakers.
Are there any popularly liked songs that you don’t like?
I could write a whole new blog post on this topic alone but I’ll mention one: Havana by Camila Cabello: I get the hype but if I hear ho na na one more time…
Where do you usually find new music?
The radio and more often than not; the background tracks on television shows.
Do you like songs based on tunes/beats or lyrics?
I could say lyrics but I’d be lying; if a song has wack lyrics that don’t make any sense but a bomb beat then I could probably enjoy it.
Name one song that you think everyone should listen to.
The Killers – Some Kind of Love. This is such a beautiful song and the fact that Brandon Flowers included his children in it just broke my heart even more.
